It's more than a 5K, because not everyone wants to run a flat, fast course that goes through a beautiful park, has two water stops and clocks at each mile. Some might prefer the Square Mile, with awards to the top 3 male and female finishers and to grammar school winners from Kindergarten through 8th grade. And then there are those who would prefer to run 600 meters with a member of the opposite gender while carrying a bucket of water ala Jack and Jill.
Whichever event (or events) you choose, you'll love Jill & Jack. It's got an early Summer morning start, great amenities, and the unique Bucket Awards. So what are you waiting for? The Education Fund of Westfield, Inc.
The Education Fund is Westfield's response to the national challenge to keep our young people well equipped and productive in an increasingly competitive, complex and changing world. Its purpose is to provide a catalyst for the generation and allocation of resources to enhance the programs for students of the Westfield Public Schools. It seeks to be a partner of the schools and the community in the pursuit of excellence.
The non-profit organization provides an on-going, centralized source of additional funds and resources to assist the public schools in maintaining and enhancing the quality of education in Westfield. Over $30,000 was provided in grants to schools throughout the district this past year. In the past ten years, the Grants Program has allowed our teachers to purchase new equipment and materials used in their classrooms. Additionally, grants have provided funds for larger school based projects.

5K Run - USATF certified, flat, fast, through residential streets and Tamaques Park.
Square Mile - Around the block - Very fast!! Bucket Race - 600 meters on track; male & female run as team with bucket.
Fees:5K - $15[USATF $13] by 5/30, $18 thereafter
Square Mile - $10 by 5/30, $12 thereafter
Jack & Jill Bucket Race - Teams of 2 with No shirts - $10 by 5/30, $12 thereafter.
Jack & Jill Bucket Race - Teams of 2 with shirts - $20 by 5/30, $24 thereafter.
Awards: 5K - 1,2,3 Overall male & female and age groups.
14 & under to 75 & over in 5 year increments.
Bucket Race - Top 5 Teams
Square Mile: By school grade
Prize Money: 5K Women - Overall
1st-$100., 2nd-$50., 3rd-$25.; 1st Master - $50. |
