2nd Annual Meadowlands Liberty ECO-TRI

The Event: The 2nd Annual Meadowlands Liberty Eco-Tri is being held in collaboration with MeadowFest, New Jersey's premiere outdoor festival featuring great food, thousands of visitors, continuous entertainment and educational exhibits.

The Eco-Tri starts the day with a 12-15 mile bike ride from Giants Stadium to the Hackensack River followed by a 3K canoe leg and a 4 mile run to Laurel Park in Secaucus, site of MeadowFest.

Triathletes will be treated to first rate amenities, unique awards and the wonders of the the Meadowlands eco-system in and around the Hackensack River. Giants Stadium is easy to get to using the Garden State Parkway or New Jersey Turnpike. The entry deadline is June 3 so don't delay.

An Extraordinary Course: A 12,000 acre wildlife preserve is being developed in the Meadowlands along the Hackensack River, providing permanent protection to one of the most important estuaries on the eastern seaboard and a great opportunity for triathletes to participate in a new, unique, multi-sport event. The Meadowlands Liberty ECO TRI.

NJ Turnpike to Exit 16W to Giants Stadium

Nuts & Bolts: LOCATION:
Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ to Laurel Hill Park, Seacaucus, NJ
SCHEDULE:
Registration-6:30am
Bike Start-7:30am
Awards:11:00am
EVENTS/COURSES:
12-15 mile bike course through East Rutherford, Carlstadt, Moonachie, Wood-Ridge, Rutherford and Lyndhurst.
3 Kilometer canoe on the Hackensack River
4 Mile run on mostly flat paved roads to Laurel Hill Park
AWARDS:
1, 2 3 overall and age groups, male & female
AGE GROUPS:
18-24, then 5 year increments to 70 and over
MINIMUM AGE:18
Information: All canoes, paddles, and personal flotation devices to be provided by the ECO TRI
Depending on the number of entrants, we may employ WAVE STARTS. Make sure you give us your bike rating on entry form

Official Triathlon Rules: BIKE:
ANSI or Snell approved bike helmet is mandatory
Bike frame #'s must be attached to the top tube and be visible at all times
Bike repair is the athlete's responsibility
Check your bike BEFORE the event
Bikes must be in working order, brakes, gearing, tires
CANOE
All canoes, paddles and personal flotation devices (PFD's) will be provided by the event organizers. No private canoe equipment allowed.
All canoeists must wear a fully fastened "PFD"
Boat or rubber soled shoes must be worn. No aqua shoes or bare feet allowed, Sneakers OK
In case of high winds, rough waters or unsafe conditions, the canoe leg will be cancelled
RUN
Runners may not be assisted in any way
Contestants must run on the right side of the road unless otherwise instructed.
GENERAL TRIATHLON RULES:
Wear bib numbers on front. No folding or cutting
No headphones (strictly enforced)
Pick up of bike will occur at canoe transition
Event organizers reserve the right to disqualify athletes for medical reasons or misconduct and may alter the course to assure safety.
Fees:: Fees: By May 21 - $100., May 22 to June 2 - $120.00

Attention Clubs: Groups of five are offered $15.00 off per entrant. Groups of 10 are offered $20.00 off per entrant.......... June 2 deadline....Please call Mark for details...732 381-0318
