THE EVENT:: |
The Newport 10,000 is back, and for the ninth straight year, a stellar international and American field of male and female runners will attack the flat and very fast 10K course as they compete for their share of the $14,400 prize money purse. And as the USATF-NJ 10K Open Championship for Men and Women, the race is assured of quality and speed throughout.
The goal of the Newport 10,000 is to spotlight the superb shops and restaurants of Newport Town Square while providing an opportunity for the best runners in the Northeast and beyond to compete at the highest level.
The course features superb Manhattan skyline views, is USATF certified and provides four water stops and clocks at each mile. Runner amenities are plentiful including post race refreshments, a DJ and random prize drawing.
And getting there is very easy by car ( free parking ) or PATH Trains. |

Directions:: |
From Manhattan--Take the Holland Tunnel. Upon exiting in Jersey City, make the first right at the Hess service station. Make right onto 18th St. which becomes Washington Boulevard. Proceed south. At Newport Parkway follow race parking signs.
From New Jersey: New Jersey Turnpike extension (from NJT North /South or Rt. 78 East) to just past Exit 14C. After coming down the ramp at the end of the Turnpike Extenstion, make right at traffic light onto Jersey Ave. Bear left onto 11th Street Viaduct which becomes Newport Parkway. At bottom of bridge, follow Race Parking signs. Garage entrance is on your right.
Path Trains: Take the PATH train marked Journal Square or Newark. At 33rd St./Herald Square, at 23rd St., 14th St., 9th St., or Christopher St. to Newport station. Turn left walk to River Dr. South and Town Square.
Parking: The parking garage is located at 560 Washington Blvd. Your BIB number is your free parking pass. |
